About the Project ArtStation is a creative platform for artists who work in various areas of visual arts. It provides them with three main networking opportunities. Artists can showcase their works in personal profiles, discover new inspiring masterpieces and ideas and, apart from connecting with each other, they can also find a lot of job opportunities on ArtStation. Challenge Our client from Ballistiq Digital Inc. had the already existing web platform for artists. They contacted MLSDev to build mobile apps to reach out to a wider audience and make the platform more accessible. The plan was to make the iOS app anew and build an Android app from scratch. Solution We started with rebuilding the iOS app. Our designer had to repeat the existing UI design because we had no source materials. When it came to iOS development, it turned out that the legacy code needed so much refactoring that it was decided to code the iOS app from scratch to save time and ensure high quality of our work. Android development started with the design too. It was necessary to repeat the iOS design adapting it to Android. In terms of app features, they were all the same as on iOS. Android and iOS app development were done almost simultaneously. Results As a result, our clients from Ballistiq Digital Inc. received two great apps that were made from scratch and completely covered the needs that were initially stated. The popularity of the platform increased via apps. The applications were well-built from the technical point of view and showed great performance – 99% crash-free. We continued to work on ongoing tasks for the client to improve, support and maintain the app until 2018.
