Develop a global grassroots community of eBay’s sellers that want their voices heard and want to enact change within government policy.

About the Project

Since 2004, REQ has partnered with eBay to develop and grow “Main Street,” a global grassroots community of small business and ecommerce advocates. Working to ensure their voices are heard by governments around the world, REQ designed and developed the Main Street website – a central hub for all of eBay’s global initiatives – and manages Main Street’s vibrant social networks. Beginning with zero members, eBay Main Street has grown to over 670,000 members.

Built in Drupal, eBay Main Street’s website naturally draws visitors to an enhanced “Issues” section, educating them on complex topics such as net neutrality, Internet sales tax, and global trade, empowering advocates to speak intelligently on these matters, and activating supporters – whether that is signing a petition, tweeting a policymaker, or sending a letter to their elected official. eBay Main Street holds the record for most letters sent to a government – over 1 million – in one week.

In addition to digital advocacy strategy, REQ provides content and video services, and manages Main Street’s ever-growing membership database and email marketing initiatives to keep advocates engaged and thinking about issues integral to eBay’s core business.
