How the tailor-made approach to software development has contributed to the growth of the largest FMCG retailer in the country by 25%

Background

Almost 20 years ago, Konzum contacted us with a request for a solution that will follow the growing needs of the leading retailer in the country. Since 2003, our business relationship has practically grown into a partnership. By closely cooperating with the client’s IT team, we developed software for the client that runs both front and back-office, while also providing the hardware – SCO registers and kiosks, POS, etc.

Konzum is Croatia’s market leader in FMCG retail. With more than 11,000 employees, it is one of the largest companies in the country, serving as many as 500,000 customers per day in over 600 stores. Following the world’s best retail experiences, Konzum leads trends in the domestic market, from self-checkout solutions to online sales and door-to-door deliveries, used by more than 155,000 registered users.

The Challenge

Konzum needed an ERP system, which it subsequently wanted to supplement with solutions for specific parts of its business. By expanding the business, the client wanted its software solution to become more mobile so that its employees can access the data from the shop floor, in order to reduce time in the back-office. In addition to the applications, it was necessary to provide hardware that accompanies the evolving software.

The Solution

During the long-term cooperation, we practised a tailor-made approach by which existing applications were customized and new applications were developed according to the client’s needs. For the same reason, PIS also created a mobile version of the ERP, which we later developed into an Android application (mobileBOOM), so now the client has the latest version of the application.

Additionally, by integrating our software with the existing solution, we have assembled a solution for the needs of door-to-door deliveries (Konzum Klik), which enables payment made on delivery (COD). At the client’s initiative, we also created a completely new application. IPIS+ sales analytics is an application that tracks sales in real-time. Konzum thus uses most of our retail applications.

Results & Conclusion

  • The number of stores increased by 25%
  • 200 self-checkout solutions installed
  • 150 mil. customers served with our software in 2019.

Cooperation continues. We unceasingly develop the IPIS+ application in accordance with the specific requirements of our clients, meaning that each of them gets a solution tailored to their business needs.
