Macmillan QDT Share: Fountain City Score Awaiting client review n/a Date Published 13 February 2019 Reading Time 1-Minute Read A redesign to make the website responsive and modern, while improving visitor retention and better promotion of their podcasts, books, and content authors. The Challenge The website for Macmillan’s Quick and Dirty Tips was unresponsive and becoming dated. The Solution We started by exploring various mood boards with the client and explored pastel feminine illustrative styles, crisp-clean and neutral and bold modern looks before settling on a clean modern style. Once a style direction was agreed upon and finalized, we moved to user studies, wireframing and data analysis. Our goal with the new site was to try and emphasize existing but underrepresented secondary features to help foster user retention like podcasts, books, authors, freebies and newsletters. Our new sitemap & wireframes included improvements to each specific page, as well as optimizations to navigation, categories, and secondary objectives. New styles were applied to existing podcast cover art and a new library set of icons were created to help users identify the various site category sections.
