A Vancouver-based law firm with an excellent professional reputation deserves a website that matches their effortless cool.

Boughton Law, founded in 1949, balances the advantages and resources of a large firm with the strong relationships and personal feel of a much smaller one. Boughton’s lawyers are smart, driven, and ambitious. Their old site, while once cutting-edge, was no longer delivering on their West Coast expertise.

With a diverse set of practice areas, a robust collection of online resources, and clear goals for future growth, Boughton Law was ready for an upgrade.

Reclaiming Their Title — When the existing Boughton Law site launched in 2011, it made a splash. Visually stunning and sophisticated for the time, it set the standard for local law firms’ websites and separated Boughton from the pack. After almost ten years, though, it was due for an update.

Beyond Aesthetics — Though other local firms and clients still cited Boughton’s site as a model, their internal team knew they were capable of much more. The firm needed a digital presence that would reflect their forward-thinking, industry-leading approach.

Identifying the Issues — The web’s changed since 2011, and Boughton’s existing site couldn’t quite keep up. Their custom WordPress theme was bloated and difficult to manage, internal site search was broken, and calls to action were varied and ineffective.

A Fresh Start. Massive developed a clean new design system and site structure that made finding information easy, intuitive, and striking. The home page’s unusual side-scroll nods to Boughton’s dedication to doing things differently.

Attracting New Talent — During our initial Research + Discovery phase, we learned recruitment was a top priority for the new site. The Boughton team has earned their reputation as an entrepreneurial, hard-working group—attracting like-minded lawyers, staff, and students was crucial.

To that end, we redesigned their careers page to highlight the unique benefits Boughton Law offers, allowing interested candidates a sneak peek at what it’s like to work for one of Vancouver’s top mid-size firms.

Search That Works — With more than fifty lawyers and specializations that cover a wide variety of practice areas, visitors to Boughton Law’s new site needed to be able to find who they were looking for quickly and easily. Our redesigned People page allows visitors to sort by position, practice area, area of expertise, or keyword. Boughton’s new Resources page offers similar functionality, offering visitors easy access to the team’s impressive thought-leadership and legal insights.

Going Above and Beyond — The striking new site combines Boughton Law’s West Coast approach with world-class design and functionality. The site is responsive, SEO-optimized, and designed to spark conversation and generate new business. It reinforces Boughton’s excellent reputation and keeps them exactly where they should be—right at the leading edge.

The new site launched in January 2021.
