The Partners Frank DeMarco – Founder and Managing Partner At the helm of Outside The Box Interactive, LLC, Frank brings to bear over three decades in the communications industry and a broad range of related marketing and advertising experience. He has had success both as a Creative Director and a Managing Executive. Frank began his career at Times-Mirror Publishing (designer; book division) and then at PW Communications, Inc., a medical magazine publisher, where he served as art director of Physcian’s World and later as creative director producing the visual identity for The Female Patient and Primary Cardiology. At the same time he began lecturing at the AIGA and other organizations, on “The Business of the Design Profession”, and started a teaching career at Parsons School of Design and later at FIT. Subsequently, Frank went on to become VP, Director of Creative Services on Wall St at Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette and later as Senior VP, Director of Operations for Design Associates, Inc., a leading sales promotion agency. Frank holds a Professional Degree of Fine Arts from Parsons School of Design and has studied at the New School for Social Research, SUNY Purchase, Pratt Institute’s Computer Arts Forum and Harvestworks Digital Media Arts. Frank is currently a mentor at NYU and has judged a number of creative awards including MARCOM. His own awards span interactive media, print advertising and marketing programs, including Best Consumer Promotion for the co-promotion he produced for Maxwell House Coffee and the Home Shopping Club. Lauren Schwartz – Partner, Creative Director Lauren has been with Outside the Box since its inception in 1995, and came to the table with a unique set of credentials—earning both a BA in Economics and Journalism from NYU and a BFA in Graphic Design from the Rhode Island School of Design. From the beginning she expanded on her “traditional” design education with digital expertise – Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Flash and Director to name just a few, in addition to programming skills such as html, JavaScript, css, and php to name a few more. Her strong design sense, technical expertise and programming ability have lead to the creation of numerous dynamic multimedia presentations, web sites, and print pieces. Lauren’s background and skills allow her to be not only a “hands-on” designer and programmer, but someone with strong project management and organizational skills who understands the design process from start to finish and can communicate clearly and directly with staff and clients. She has won numerous awards for her design and programming since joining Outside The Box.
