We worked with CLASP, an international nonprofit, to improve their digital communications through better content strategy and a new, modern website.

The Challenge

Before working with S&S, CLASP’s website had become outdated over the years and no longer reflected their core values and services.

The Solution

Following an in-depth process of discovery and collaboration, we developed an expansive set of user experiences and created an exciting visual narrative that ties them all together. The new website features robust technical tools, stories of human impact, and clear messaging around CLASP’s mission.

The user experience of the website offers users of extremely diverse backgrounds to find technical information, expositional stories about CLASP’s programming, and administrative information such as financial data and team bios. This UX was constructed by first developing a set of 7 user personas that cover users in groups such as policymakers, appliance energy efficiency experts, and institutional donors. Each user group has its own challenges, goals, motivations, and frustrations, as well as their own level of subject-matter technical knowledge. As a result, we needed to organize multiple funnels that carry users to the most relevant information to their specific job functions.

The Result

The design strategy showcases how CLASP acts as a center point and conduit for collaboration between all of these diverse groups of people, working towards a goal of ambitious reductions in energy consumption for everyday electronic appliances. The visual throughline of the website illustrates this by connecting lines, dots, and data that are juxtaposed with images of the way in which more energy-efficient appliances affect humans and the earth itself.
