Fyne Jewelry – Ultra Fine Shopify

The Challenge

Fyne Jewelry is a luxury jewelry brand; however, its website didn’t reflect the premium quality of its products. In light of this, the company approached Vevol Media for help with improving its website. Because the client’s store was unique, the outcome couldn’t be anything less than exceptional.

The Solution

Design and Development

Our initial discussion with the client centered on UI/UX improvement. Some of the custom pages on the site were made using a third-party page builder, which was a good option at the time, but an unsustainable approach in the long run. As a result, we decided to do what we do best – custom development with a distinctive design in mind.

We took the pulse of the brand and found out what the company leaders liked when it came to design, what new additions they wanted and what they did not want to keep from the old website. The goals for the new store were also discussed.

We settled on going with a modern look and feel, with asymmetric sections and an emphasis on bold typography. What we wanted to preserve from the old website was the storytelling that had been achieved by combining beautiful imagery with the right wording.

Our development principles were pretty straightforward – we built everything with the user and customer (the shop admin) in mind. All sections were easily customizable, and no development experience was required to adjust design elements. The components functioned as modular Shopify sections that could be added to any page, in any order.

Bye Bye, Third-party Apps

We are big fans of Shopify apps. They’re versatile, easy to set up and always reliable. But when you reach a certain point in your business, have tried all of the options and discovered what, exactly, works best for your brand, then it’s time to take things to the next level. This is exactly what happened at Fyne Jewelry: the apps did a great job, but there was room for improvement.

We went ahead and made a plan to replace the third-party apps with embedded custom components built from scratch. One of the main concerns we had to address was how each app had a slightly different appearance. We had to adjust each of them so that they integrated seamlessly on the website. After laying out all the pros and cons the existing apps had, we were ready to polish up the product page.

Below are some apps we replaced with custom code, as well as new custom functionalities that we developed.

Gift Wrapping

Fyne Jewelry offers free premium gift wrapping on all orders placed on the website, which we made more intuitive and effortless for  customers to add.

Engraving

It may be considered a small feature not worth focusing on, but engraving your jewelry is what can make a piece truly yours, which is why the client decided to take it up a notch. We built a custom rendering of their best-selling item in the store and engraved it dynamically.

Estimated Delivery Times and Currency Exchanger

Given that the client sells unique pieces of jewelry, it’s hard for them not to attract international attention. In light of this, given that Fyne Jewelry receives orders from around the world, being able to estimate delivery dates was especially important.

Having an integrated currency exchanger that helps customers convert prices into their preferred currency was also a must, so we added this too.

Wishlist

A wishlist app is a big feature for the website, and most third-party apps take forever to load. We coded an alternative with the aim of great speed and flawless blending with the store. We also built an interface that allows the company to see which products have become customers’ favorites. The interface can also produce any necessary statistics and reports.

The Result

The website now matches the caliber of the products that Fyne Jewelry sells, and the client has been very impressed with the work we’ve done for them.
